The Hall of Fame is back, and it's back with surprises
Next Tuesday, the Technical Hall will debut on Recta de Meta, alternating every Tuesday with the Hall of Fame.
On the eighth of November, more than eight months ago, we launched a new section on Recta de Meta: the Hall of Fame. In it, we would try to honour the most important, most decorated or, simply, most beloved drivers in the international motorsport scene. The idea, brought up by our colleague Yoel, debuted with a “double chapter” on Colin McRae, or rather, the Mr. Colin McRae.
After him came men such as Richard Burns, Jochen Rindt, François Cevert, Henri Toivonen, Ari Vatanen, Gilles Villeneuve, Nigel Mansell, Mika Häkkinen and Philippe Bugalski. In turn, we have produced a couple of different “chapters” focusing on legendary cars, also deserving of a place in the Hall. The culprit for this beginning was our former colleague Adrián Molina, who left us a fine two-part feature on the Porsche 917.
Last week, Yoel also added another: the McLaren-Honda MP4/4. Now, on Recta de Meta, we are going to go further; we are going to improve our Hall of Fame, giving it a regular life, collecting names, myths and cars that stayed in all of our minds when we saw them race or drive alongside death; sometimes venturing into it so that, after many years, they became true myths. True legends.
The Hall of Fame will be reborn on Recta de Meta every two weeks; every second Tuesday. You will all ask, why every two weeks? The answer is the Technical Hall, a new addition that will start on your blog from next Tuesday, alternating with the already familiar Hall of Fame.
And what will it be like?Unlike the Hall of Fame, here we will only cover vehicles. But current vehicles, from this season or, at the very most, the last one. Here will feature everything from the F2012 to the Ford GT used by the Sunred team in the already dying GT1 World Championship. All will have a place. All.
But we will need your help
In our two Halls there is only one problem. Who to choose? That’s where all of you come in. You will be in charge of choosing, through our social networks or our contact form, those selected to enter the Hall of Fame or the Technical Hall. You will be the ones who select the names that will become part of our/your history.
And that’s all for my weekly sermon. There is one week left before we have the first car in our Technical Hall, so I feel totally obliged to ask you: Which car should inaugurate it?
