The Honda NSX GT3 will debut in the FIA GT World Championship in Macau

The Honda NSX GT3 makes its debut in the FIA GT Championship in Macau. The supercar will go head to head in what is considered the most prestigious championship in Europe.

A few months ago we told you that the NSX GT3 hit the track for its customers, and now the Japanese brand is sending its competition car to the FIA GT World Cup. Specifically, it will take part in the 64th Macau Grand Prix, which will take place from 16 to 19 November.

The Honda NSX GT3 has the honour of competing in the most prestigious speed championship in the world in the GT category, which will be held alongside the World Touring Car Championship and the FIA Formula 3 World Cup. Only 12 units of this competition car will be made, which will be put on sale to future customers and be available to compete in the 2018 season. The agents responsible for selling the NSX GT3 and providing technical service will be HPD (Honda Performance Development) in North America, Mugen in Japan and JAS Motorsport in the rest of the world.

Behind the wheel of the NSX GT3 will be Dutch driver Renger van der Zande, considered one of the best European drivers over the last two seasons. Van der Zande was crowned winner of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship in North America. Also standing out in his professional career is the overall second place the Dutchman achieved at the 24 Hours of Spa and the Nürburgring, winning his class at the Petit Le Mans and securing a podium finish at the 12 Hours of Sebring.

Furthermore, Renger van der Zande could be a key piece in Honda’s strategy for the FIA championship in Macau, as he has competed up to eight times on the circuit, whose track measures 6.1 km in length. The 31-year-old Dutchman finished in the top five in two of the eight races of the Formula 3 Grand Prix and earned the GT3 runner-up title in 2014.

The record of the Honda driver boasts impressive awards, making the Asian brand a tough rival during the FIA championship in Macau. At the same time, Honda wants to take advantage of its participation in the championship to promote one of its courses, specifically the competition course, which was presented at the 24 Hours of Spa and will be available to the public from next year.

Honda will face other competitors in one of the most prestigious championships in the world. Honda’s engineers will be forced to prepare the NSX GT3 as well as possible to meet the challenge, but with the help of driver van der Zande, the Japanese brand will have a very high number of chances of achieving a very good position in the competition.
