The Honda S660 is a small, newly conceived roadster that we reported on just a few weeks ago.
However, since it went on sale, the Honda mini convertible seems to be enjoying great success with the public, especially among older buyers.
During an initial launch phase, the S660 is only on sale in Japan, the home country of Honda and the place where the S660 is exclusively manufactured. Further versions of the S660 will be launched later, which will almost certainly reach more regions, including Europe.
The S660 has been launched in response to growing demand for small vehicles with an emotional appeal. Honda had set this aspect aside somewhat in recent times, but with the recent arrival of models such as the new NSX and the new generation of the Civic Type R, the Japanese brand has returned to the spotlight.

Equipped with a modest 63 CV engine and a displacement of 660 cubic centimetres, the S660 focuses more on lightness and agility than on pure performance, as demonstrated by its 6-speed manual gearbox and rear-wheel drive. What seems to be a fact is its success, since all the units planned for this year have already been sold, totalling 8,600.
What has Honda somewhat puzzled is the nature of these sales, since according to its data, four out of every five S660s sold have been bought by customers over the age of 40. This is a complete reversal of Honda’s forecasts, as it is the opposite of the statistics recorded by the S2000, where only one in five customers was over 40.
In any case, at Honda they are pleased with the good reception of the model, and have already given the green light to a European S660, which will almost certainly feature a new 1.0 Turbo engine with around 130 CV.
