The Honda S660 Mini Roadster, officially unveiled in Japan

This week kicks off with the official presentation of the Honda S660 Mini Roadster, a car that was first shown as a concept at the Tokyo Motor Show. Now it comes in this new version, which has already been officially revealed with an extensive image gallery and a video showcasing this model in all its glory. Launch will take place on April 2, with a starting price equivalent to about $16,545.
It is a two-seater with a rear-mounted engine that delivers a weight distribution of 45-55%, with the greater weight at the rear and a very low centre of gravity. This convertible is very light, which gives it very effective control through corners. The engine is a 0.66-litre three-cylinder turbocharged unit.
It comes as no surprise, as this is a kei-car, a type of car designed for getting around the city and a good option for motoring in urban journeys without spending a lot of money and while being exempt from certain taxes.

The engine is paired with a six-speed manual gearbox, although a 7-speed automatic gearbox can also be fitted, which includes a sport mode to get the most out of this small urban car. Despite its 64 hp output, the engine sounds like a genuine sports car, thanks to a sound optimisation treatment applied to the air intakes and exhaust pipe.
This type of vehicle is very popular among Japanese buyers, and a special edition of the Honda S660 is reportedly being considered, of which only 660 units would be sold. This special version would feature more exclusive elements than the model presented today, which would make it a highly sought-after car.
