The Hyundai Ioniq, leaked one day before its debut in New York

There is just one day left before the 2016 New York Auto Show begins, and expectations are quite high regarding the novelties that the various manufacturers will present. One of those models that will reach the US market will be the Hyundai Ioniq, which could already be seen in Europe at the beginning of this month. But although its official presentation will take place on the 23rd, we will be able to see its appearance for the US market.

This model will feature some changes compared to the European one, so we are facing a new car which, although it can be seen live tomorrow, today lets us view it in an image gallery. Furthermore, we will have the chance to see the three versions in which it will be presented for the United States: hybrid, plug-in hybrid and 100% electric.

As for the specific specifications aimed at US drivers, we don’t have anything clear yet. We know that on our continent both the hybrid and the plug-in hybrid have a 1.6-litre GDI petrol engine, paired with a six-speed dual-clutch gearbox. The first has an electric motor of 43 CV associated with it, while the second uses a larger motor, of 60 CV and a battery pack of 8.9 kWh.

As for the most eco-friendly version, the fully electric one, it uses an electric motor of 118 CV and a maximum torque of 295 Nm coupled to a single-speed transmission. The 28 kWh lithium-ion battery helps maintain a range of about 250 km, which makes it a rather remarkable car within its range. What will the version aimed at the American public offer?

It is too early to know, but in just a few hours we will be able to clear up our doubts and see whether what they offer Americans is superior to what we Europeans can enjoy or only changes some minor detail. Impatient to find out?
