The Jaguar E-Type Lightweight is unveiled in this image gallery
Jaguar has returned to the 1960s with the recreation of the original Jaguar E-Type, of which only 12 units were built instead of the 18 planned, so these six that will be presented at the Pebble Beach event this weekend will complete the 1963 project

In 1963, Jaguar set out to create one of the models destined to become one of the most legendary of the brand. Eighteen units had been planned, but in the end only 12 cars left the assembly line. This is the Jaguar E-Type Lightweight, which has now been revived by Jaguar Heritage, a division of Jaguar Special Operations.
The six units that were never built at the time have now been produced, and each of them has been assigned one of the numbers that went unused back then. Yet, although it is a replica of the Jaguar Special GT E-Type, it is built with a body considerably lighter than the original, thanks to advances made in the technology the brand has worked with over the last decades.
The Concours d’Elegance Pebble Beach will be the setting for the presentation of this car, which will be sold as a period competition vehicle and may be homologated by the FIA so that it can take part in the various competitions held throughout the year.
The engine meets all the specifications of the one fitted to the original models, with an aluminium block and cylinder head and dry-sump lubrication, and it is the basis of the Jaguar E-Type Lightweight that can be seen this weekend.
With this project, Jaguar Heritage aims to recover the brand’s heritage, shaping the vehicles that have built Jaguar’s prestige and reviving models that marked a before and after in automotive history. The project also guarantees that Jaguar’s classic models can be repaired and restored at the Browns Lane facilities.
