The Kia Rio also joins the GT-Line trim level
Kia adds the interesting GT-Line version to the Kia Rio range, which will be available in the summer with the 1.0 T-GDI 120 CV engine.
GT-Line versions are very popular in the Kia range. That is why, after the Kia Sportage and the Kia Picanto GT-Line, the Korean brand is adding this variant to the Kia Rio range. It is a trim level that includes customisation details that convey a sporty image, without going so far as to compromise comfort for everyday use. The presentation will take place at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show, and the Kia Rio GT-Line will go on sale in the summer.

Among the design details that characterise the Kia Rio GT-Line are the exclusive 17-inch alloy wheels and LED light clusters inspired by those of the Kia Ceed GT. The black rear spoiler, the chrome window surrounds and the twin exhaust outlets give the Kia Rio that “something different” compared to the rest of the range’s versions. Of the five body colours to choose from, Platinum Graphite stands out, along with red, white, black and silver.

Inside, there is synthetic leather upholstery with contrasting stitching, a new steering wheel, metallic inserts in various areas, and a dashboard finish imitating carbon fibre.
Kia Rio GT-Line: with 1.0 TGDi petrol engine
The engine chosen by Kia for the market launch of this GT-Line version is the excellent 1.0 T-GDi three-cylinder petrol in its 120 CV version. An engine already used by other Kia and Hyundai models, which has proven to be among the best in its class for driving pleasure and the balance between performance and consumption.

It delivers 120 CV at 6,000 rpm, and offers a maximum torque of 172 Nm between 1,500 and 4,000 rpm. Fitted as standard with a 6-speed manual gearbox, it allows the Kia Rio GT-Line to homologate an average consumption of 4.7 l/100 km, figures still according to the NEDC cycle. Later, after the summer, the Kia Rio GT-Line range will feature new mechanical variants, including an entry-level version with a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine. A dual-clutch automatic gearbox will also be available .
