The Kia Sorento, the Rio and the Venga, stars of the 2014 Paris Motor Show

Kia Sorento 2015
Its official name is the Mondial de l’Automobile, but we refer to it as the 2014 Paris Motor Show. It is the next major event for the automotive industry and will take place from 4 to 19 September. And it is at this important event that Kia will unveil its new models, such as the Kia Sorento and the updated Kia Rio and Kia Venga.

These three models, which will feature new versions, will be joined by the concept car Kia Optima T-Hybrid, the result of the brand’s research into diesel-electric hybrid technology, the company’s Korean bet on reducing fuel consumption.

We have talked at length about the Kia Sorento in this article, where my colleague Francisco Javier reviews all the new features we can expect in this new version of the Korean car. But we will also have the new revision of the Kia Rio, so let’s take a closer look.

This is one of the brand’s most popular models worldwide, with 471,000 units sold worldwide during 2013, including 56,821 units sold in Europe. The changes are essentially aesthetic, while maintaining the characteristics that have made it one of the brand’s most popular models.

The front of the model has been redesigned, with changes to the bumper and the fog lights. The grille has also been renewed, with the Tiger Nose style that is common in other current Kia models. The rear bumper has also been changed, and three wheel designs are added, in 15, 16 and 17 inches.

Two new body colours are also added, Urban Blue and Digital Yellow, while the interior sees a redesigned layout for the audio system controls. The AVN navigation system and a DAB digital radio (Digital Audio Broadcasting) will be optional.

It will have four engines, ranging in power from 70 CV to 109 CV, with front-wheel drive and either a five- or six-speed manual gearbox or a four-speed automatic.

The Kia Venga, the MPV that was presented five years ago, gets a new front end with the Tiger Nose grille and offers up to seven engines, 1.4 and 1.6 litres, petrol and diesel, with power ranging between 75 and 128 CV.
