The Lamborghini Aventador LP780-4 Ultimae marks the farewell to the popular supercar

This is the last version the brand is launching of its popular Aventador, so it marks the model’s farewell. It will be replaced by another one, which will be a hybrid.

Although it may seem like it has been with us for many years, the Lamborghini Aventador is not such an old supercar. But even so, the time has come to say goodbye, and with the sale of the 600 planned units of the Aventador LP780-4 Ultimae, the brand will no longer build more units.

It was a foretold story, since the brand’s decision to bring the flagship of the company, equipped with the naturally aspirated 6.2-litre V12 engine, to an end was made public. The intention of Lamborghini is to continue its roadmap, which they have called Direzione Cor Tauri, toward electrifying the range.

The end of an era

The Lamborghini Aventador was presented in 2011, and over these 10 years it has sold 10,000 units across several versions, which have offered the brand’s users a wide variety of driving experiences. Among the versions of the supercar we have been able to get to know the LP700-4, the powerful LP750-4 SV, a revamped Aventador S LP740-4, the track-oriented version LP770-4 SVJ, and the definitive LP780-4 Ultimae. In addition, it has served as the basis for the limited editions Veneno, Centenario, SC18 Alston, Sián FKP 37, Essenza SCV12, SC20 and Countach LPI 800-4, which have been part of this legend.

Now, the flagship of the company says goodbye, after selling the last 600 scheduled units. Of these, 350 took the form of coupé, while the remaining 250 were presented in the roadster variant. With production’s end already set, all that remains is to wait for Lamborghini to present the successor to the Aventador, which is expected to happen very soon.

The future of Lamborghini lies in electrification, and toward it they are heading to equip the Urus with a plug-in hybrid version, in addition to replacements for the Aventador and the Huracan, which will also have an electrified component to bring it closer to the new reality of the automotive industry.

The date set by Lamborghini for having a fully electric model has been fixed between 2025 and 2027, so we are waiting for them to reveal some data about what we can expect from a brand where car performance and design are of great importance.
