The Lamborghini Urus eager to dominate the market: new production record for the Italian SUV
Lamborghini has just announced the rollout of the 10,000th Urus from the factory, a model that could become the brand’s most successful product
High-performance SUVs are no longer a novelty; they have become a firmly established part of the automotive sector. However, as happens in every segment, a fierce and hard-fought war is being waged among this type of vehicle, which find an ever-greater place in the market. One of the models that has drawn the most attention has undoubtedly been the Lamborghini Urus, a contender for the title of king of kings, whose back carries almost as many detractors as admirers.
And it is that the House of the Bull has managed to ensure that its first SUV has earned the hearts of its potential customers through sheer merit, and they have helped it set a new record. Indeed, the Lamborghini Urus has managed to push its tally up to 10,000 units produced, a rare milestone for a brand like the one that houses our protagonist.
Although we should not forget that both the Gallardo and the current Huracán have figures that are nothing to sniff at, the truth is that many were somewhat skeptical about the arrival of the Italian SUV. Yet the future of the Urus was easy to predict, given the success enjoyed not only by more modest SUVs, but also by some of the Italian’s main rivals.
Besides an imposing design and a practicality never before seen in a member of the bull’s family, the Urus offers performance worthy of the badge it carries. Indeed, the engineers at Lamborghini have opted
for a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine capable of producing a staggering 650 CV and 850 Nm of torque, figures that allow it to cover 0 to 100 km/h in 3.6 seconds.
Now, 10,000 fortunate owners have an example of the Italian SUV in their garage, with the last unit destined for Russia. This one has been finished in Nero Noctis Matt and combined with the carbon-fibre pack and an orange interior, courtesy of Lamborghini’s Ad Personam department, which is in charge of actually fulfilling its customers’ wishes in exchange for a substantial sum of money.
This is how Lamborghini has made its mark with the Urus, a model that arrived in 2017 with great force and great hunger. And these ambitions have materialised in a car that, although not suitable for every pocket,
has been received remarkably well among those wealthier customers.
