Stellantis and Lancia are betting on Italy, where the new Lancia Gamma will be built at the historic Melfi plant from 2026

The Italian brand Lancia, an icon of elegance and performance in the automotive world, takes a decisive step toward the future with the production of the new Lancia Gamma at the emblematic Melfi plant, starting in 2026. This decision, announced by Stellantis at the recent event in Balocco, marks a turning point in the revival of Lancia, reaffirming its commitment to Italian tradition, innovation and sustainability.

The Melfi plant, located in the Italian region of Basilicata, was chosen as the production site for the Gamma due to its reputation as a centre of excellence. This industrial complex, inaugurated in 1994, has witnessed the manufacture of renowned models such as the Jeep Compass and the Jeep Renegade, and has established itself as a pillar of the European automotive industry thanks to its focus on efficiency and sustainable production. With the new Lancia Gamma, Stellantis is not only betting on a high-end vehicle, but also on an electrification strategy that turns Melfi into a stronghold of future mobility.

Designed in Italy on the multi-energy STLA Medium platform, the new Lancia Gamma is a manifestation of the tradition and innovation of Lancia. Drawing on decades of excellence in automotive engineering, the brand has managed to integrate high-tech elements into its DNA without losing the essence that characterises its models. According to Luca Napolitano, CEO of Lancia, the Gamma symbolises the brand’s commitment to sustainability and high performance, while honouring the elegance and style that have defined Lancia for years.

“The new Lancia Gamma represents a milestone on our journey toward the future. It embodies our commitment to sustainability and high performance, while celebrating the unmistakable elegance that has defined Lancia for decades. The return of Lancia Corse

In addition to the announcement of Gamma production, the Balocco event also brought another major piece of news for the brand’s fans: the return of the competition division Lancia Corse, with the launch of the Ypsilon Rally4 HF. This revival of the competition division evokes Lancia’s rich history in the world of rallying, a field where the Italian brand excelled for decades.
