The Land Rover Defender 110 gets armoured by Trasco

Land Rover and Trasco have teamed up to create a version of the Defender 110 with light armour that offers a basic level of protection for its occupants.

Land Rover Defender 152

The Land Rover Defender is one of the most sought-after off-roaders in the world. It has a long history and offers great versatility on any terrain, so many people want to enjoy this model behind the wheel. Now, the brand itself also offers the possibility of owning one of these vehicles with light armour, designed for those who need a low-level personal protection.

The conversion has been carried out by Trasco, the company specialised in this type of conversion. The collaboration between the two companies has made it possible to transform the Land Rover into a vehicle with anti-kidnapping protection. It is not heavy armour like the kind found on other similar vehicles, but it offers basic protection against any attack in the city or in the countryside.

Basic protection

The protection offered by this conversion is minimal, but it allows the occupants to be protected from an attack and provides a means of defence against an attempted kidnapping, for example. The difference between a standard Land Rover Defender 110 and this armoured unit is minimal, so it is practically impossible to tell that it is an armoured vehicle, which is very practical in everyday use.

The user can choose between a VPAM 4 or VPAM 6 level of ballistic protection, so both types of protection are available. The areas with VPAM-certified ballistic materials are the windscreen, the doors and door windows, the roof, the floor and a new rear ballistic partition with a window located behind the second row of seats.

There are other elements in the conversion that can be included optionally, such as an anti-fire system for the engine, which can be deployed manually or automatically. A blue emergency light can also be added to the grille, with a siren to provide an audible signal.

Other features include an intercom system, puncture-proof tyres, high-strength window lifters, ballistic protection for the underbody and a fuel tank with automatic locking for added security. All of this can be added optionally, turning this off-roader into a discreet and secure refuge for its occupants.
