The last Jeep Renegade has just rolled off the assembly line at the Melfi plant
The Jeep Renegade is reaching the end of its production, and it is expected that if it returns, it will do so as an electric model from 2027 onwards, to be more sustainable

The Jeep Renegade has been one of the most popular models of the American brand over the last few years. It was launched on the market in 2014 and since then about two million units have been built. After so many years in service, this model has been discontinued in the European market and therefore will no longer be manufactured. If you want to enjoy driving one of these American off-road vehicles built in Europe, you will only be able to get one of those remaining in stock or on the used market.
The strategy of Jeep is focused on the transition to electric mobility and therefore, the vehicles the brand is going to produce will be electric models. The Jeep Renegade became the first Jeep to be fully manufactured outside the United States and enjoyed considerable success in the European market.

Its length of 4.24 metres allowed it to become an off-roader suitable for the European market, and its success grew over the years. However, the platform underpinning it does not allow the model to meet lthe new European emissions regulations. It cannot be electrified and falls outside the standard that is now required to be a sustainable and efficient vehicle.
The replacements for the Renegade are already on the market, so the model’s users will not have time to miss it. The Jeep Avenger has a more compact size, with a length of 4.08 metres and an electrified drivetrain. Closer to the Renegade is the Jeep Compass, with a length of 4.55 metres and handling closer to the Renegade’s.
The Melfi plant has benefited from an investment of billions of euros to modernise its facilities and will be dedicated exclusively to manufacturing electric cars. It is at the Melfi plant that the new Lancia Gamma will be built, which will reach the market soon and will reinforce Stellantis’ path towards electric mobility.
Will the Renegade disappear completely?
Although the Jeep Renegade is disappearing from the brand’s range, the name may not disappear entirely. There is talk of the return of the Renegade from 2027, but with fundamental changes. Specifically, a new model is expected to take its place, this time with the Smart Car platform, so it will have an electric drivetrain. We will have to wait, but the door to the Renegade’s return is open.
