Pontiac Compact Curiosities Sports Cars
The last wish of a Pontiac Fiero fanatic

I don’t usually write about overly local or fanciful stories, but while reading an article on Jalopnik, I couldn’t help posting the following story, which will move more than a few people.
The Pontiac Fiero was another failed attempt by GM to introduce a variant into its already tired lineup of models in the mid-1980s. It was a small car, a two-seater with clear aspirations to be sporty and equipped with a mid-engine layout. In fact, it was the first mid-engined car built by an American manufacturer. Unfortunately, the Fiero did not achieve much success and was discontinued in 1988, remaining a cult car only for enthusiasts.
And it was precisely one of those enthusiasts, who was about to restore a Fiero, who was diagnosed with terminal cancer. With no hope left, he decided to spend his final days at home, alongside his parents. His Pontiac Fiero, which he had bought for very little money, remained stored away, waiting for a miracle.
Through an online search, he managed to get in touch with one of the many Pontiac Fiero clubs in the USA, who selflessly restored the car on their own time, covering all the costs. After several days of work, the protagonist of this story set aside his wheelchair and crutches to sit in his gleaming, freshly restored Fiero, one of the last things he would ever do in his life.
