The long-awaited debut of the new Opel Corsa with 48 V hybrid propulsion arrives

Opel has enthusiastically announced the arrival of its new Opel Corsa with 48-volt hybrid technology, one more step towards achieving full electrification by 2025. This model not only redefines driving efficiency, but also sets a new standard in the automotive industry, combining the power of innovative petrol engines, a dual-clutch transmission of the latest generation and a 21 kW electric motor.
In terms of efficiency and sustainability, the new Opel Corsa Hybrid far outperforms its non-electrified counterpart with an eight-speed automatic transmission. The Corsa Hybrid of 74 kW/100 CV can save approximately 1.0 l/100 km of fuel, equivalent to a 15% reduction in consumption (WLTP: 4.7-4.6 l/100 km; 106-102 g/km of CO2, both combined).

Up to 136 CV
In daily driving, the petrol engine and the electric motor of the Opel Corsa Hybrid work together or independently to optimise energy consumption and improve performance. This seamless coordination translates into notable advantages, especially in urban traffic, where the electric motor allows fully electric driving at low speeds, up to 30 km/h, with low torque requirements.
The new hybrid generation incorporates three-cylinder 1.2-litre petrol engines, developed specifically for hybridisation and to meet the Euro 6.4 emissions standard. With options of 74 kW/100 CV and 100 kW/136 CV, these engines deliver maximum power at 5,500 rpm, with maximum torque of 205 Nm and 230 Nm respectively at 1,750 rpm, operating on the efficient Miller combustion cycle.

What’s new in the Hybrid version
The electrified six-speed dual-clutch transmission, designed for hybrid applications, ensures gear changes without interruption and greater comfort. Integrated into the transmission housing is a permanent magnet synchronous electric motor, delivering a maximum power of 21 kW/28 CV and a maximum torque of 55 Nm. In addition, a belt-driven starter motor facilitates starting the petrol engine in cold conditions, restarting it quickly and smoothly while driving.

The 48V lithium-ion battery, with a capacity of 432 Wh, is strategically located under the front left seat, optimising weight distribution and preserving boot space. The hybrid system is powered through two electrical networks: a 12V low-voltage network for the vehicle’s equipment and another 48V network for the hybrid system.
