The madness of a supercar: 5,000 CV in a production car, and we'll see it in Dubai

This supercar will have the power of 10 supercars, according to laboratory tests of the V16 engine with four turbos developed by Denvel

If you’re one of those who are amazed by supercars that exceed 500, 800 or even 1,000 CV, you’re going to be speechless when I tell you that we’re going to be able to see a car equipped with a V16 engine with four turbos that reaches, mind you, the impressive power of 5,007 CV. For now, on a test bench, but the company Devel announces that this block will soon be mounted under the hood of The Sixteen, a concept car that was presented a few years ago and which, if all goes well, we will see as a production car.

That’s a lot. A supercar that will reach 5,000 CV and a maximum torque of 3,900 Nm, which will propel it to a speed of 500 km/h without breaking a sweat. An absolute beast that, despite everything, they say could be approved for road use and not just for ignoring all the logical speed rules on a controlled circuit. The presentation of the production version will be, they say, at the Dubai Motor Show in a few days.

An Italian company to dress the engine

The company that has partnered with Devel to give this engine a suitable body is Manifattura Automobili Torino, which has been responsible for turning Devel’s crazy idea into reality four years after presenting the concept car. The Italian company’s experience is marked by the design of the Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus SCG 003 and the new Apollo Intensa Emozione, so it has become the logical choice to bring this dream into the real world.

Everything surrounding this crazy model is still theoretical, and until it is presented at the Dubai Motor Show, we won’t know whether this car will really have these characteristics or whether the power of a car has been considerably tamed that is more spectacular for its engine and technical features than for its exterior image. Will it really be that spectacular, or are they creating very high expectations? For now, here’s the video that shows that, at least in the laboratory, this engine is a true beast.
