The McLaren GT shows off its figure in motion at the Goodwood Festival

McLaren returned once again to the Goodwood Festival, where its newly unveiled GT took on the track without hesitation, showing off its power.

The supercar segment has managed to reach a balance that was unthinkable just a few years ago. Some of the sector’s top exponents have found a way to combine the comfort and refinement of a road car with the boldness and sportiness of a high-performance sports car. McLaren chose to take this formula with the GT, a model that, as its name suggests, is aimed at fast driving but with an impeccable level of comfort. A few months after its presentation, it has finally made its appearance, and what better place than the Goodwood Festival.

The people from Woking wanted to take advantage of the local event to show off the capabilities of their latest offspring, and the truth is that it promises a lot. Although it has a less radical design than its other siblings, the McLaren GT relies on a mechanical layout and aerodynamics capable of putting its main rivals in serious trouble.

This slimmer, more streamlined look is best appreciated in motion, as its lines have avoided the dry, sharp design. A rather rounded front end is topped by elongated light clusters that fit its philosophy very well. The side does show muscle, where the pronounced wheel arches reveal a design with carefully crafted aerodynamics behind them, as is also the case at the rear.

But all this carefully crafted design is not in vain, because deep within the English supercar lies an engine capable of living up to it. To be more specific, the engineers at McLaren have turned to the well-known 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 capable of delivering on this occasion 620 CV and 630 Nm of torque, figures accompanied by a sweet melody that can be heard on its fast lap of the Goodwood circuit.

Thanks to the combination of effective aerodynamics with a very capable powertrain, the McLaren GT is in a position to reach 100 km/h in 3.2 seconds and a top speed of 326 km/h. In this context, the supercar from Woking not only promises to be one of the fastest at Goodwood, but also in its class, promising to put rivals of the calibre of the Aston Martin DB11 between a rock and a hard place.

This is how McLaren has burst onto the Goodwood Festival once again, where the fastest models always show off their performance. For now the price of the McLaren GT is a complete mystery to us, but very soon we will witness how the company begins to offer all the details about its latest creation.
