The MG4 is completely redesigned for its new 2025 edition

After three years on the market, MG already has the complete redesign of one of its most popular electric models ready. The new MG4 is somewhat larger, with 11 centimetres more in length and a wheelbase 4.5 centimetres longer. According to data leaked by Chinese authorities, its dimensions reach 4,395 mm in length, 1,842 mm in width and 1,551 mm in height.

This new model now incorporates a new electric propulsion system and also features a completely redesigned exterior, with more pronounced wheel arches, traditional door handles, a rear spoiler and an LED strip joining the two rear light clusters. It is also worth noting that the new 2025 MG4 is lighter than its predecessor, weighing 1,485 kg on the scales compared with 1,620 kg, a difference that will surely have positive consequences for the total range the vehicle offers.

The Chinese manufacturer has chosen to fit the 2025 edition of the MG4 with an electric motor of slightly lower power, going from 125 to 120 kW. However, the top speed remains the same, limited to 160 km/h. The capacity of the battery pack and the options available, meanwhile, have not yet been revealed, but they are expected to offer a similar range.

Until now, the MG4 has been available in three different versions: Long Range, with a 64 kWh battery pack and a range of 463 km; Extended Range, with a 77 kWh battery pack and 529 km of range; and at the top of the range, the XPower edition, with dual electric motors and higher power but a reduced range of 394 km. At present it is not confirmed that MG will keep these same versions, but it seems quite likely that it will.

When will we see the new 2025 MG4 on European streets and roads?

The market launch of the new 2025 MG4 is planned for next summer, we imagine starting in China. In any case, SAIC has classified this vehicle as a global model, which means it will sooner or later also arrive in Europe. As for the price list, it is still an unknown, not only for the European market but also for the Chinese one.

Sales of the current MG4 model have been falling in China over the last few months, to the point that in February in this enormous market only 13 units were sold. In Europe, on the other hand, the application to SAIC of higher tariffs than most of the other Chinese brands has not made things easy either. The launch of a fully renewed MG4 therefore seems absolutely necessary to try to boost sales and return this electric model to being one of the most in demand.
