The Mustang turned SUV: this is the new Edge ST
Ford Performance takes the Edge through its facilities, with the aim of creating the ST version. It features a powerful V6 engine that delivers 350 CV of power

Power, sportiness and comfort. These are three qualities we look for in virtually any car that is a little special. We must admit that few models on today’s market are capable of offering such an extraordinary blend of sensations, but Ford has wanted to try. The American brand has just unveiled the ST version of one of its most exclusive SUVs, the Edge. The sporty variant of the American crossover arrives with plenty of ambition and very impressive performance.
The Edge has been a success in the United States since its launch, and now that Ford has brought it to Europe, it hopes to achieve sales figures similar to those on the American continent. With a view to widening its customer base, the brand with the oval logo has decided to create this very special variant, capable of delivering that mix of sensations we mentioned at the beginning.
The engineers at Ford Performance had the outlandish idea of giving the Edge a much more radical concept and, without a doubt, the result is striking. Aesthetically, certain improvements can be seen, which not only give the SUV a much sportier look but also feature substantial aerodynamic work. The front grille adopts a dark black colour to contrast with the body tone and eliminate any trace of softness the Edge may have had.

The front bumper takes on a much more aggressive and rugged design, thanks to a double air intake to cool the powerful Edge ST. The rear features a new diffuser, which gives life to two generous exhaust outlets designed to amplify the roar of the V6 that lives at the heart of the American SUV. Yes, the new Edge ST has a V6 EcoBoost that produces a strong, raw burble, which will ensure you don’t forget it’s no ordinary SUV.
But the V6 is not only loud, it is also powerful. The 2.7-litre engine is capable of producing 340 CV of power and 515 Nm of torque, which are sent directly to the ground through an all-wheel-drive system. To complement the sporty and radical experience on board the Edge ST, the American brand has fitted an eight-speed automatic gearbox, much faster than the one in the previous generation.

The new Edge ST is a promising vehicle that will win over the hearts of American buyers, but will it have the chance to do so in Europe? The answer is not clear, since this type of car is difficult to sell in our market, although all car enthusiasts are eager to see Ford dare to try.
