The new BMW X5 2019 is fine-tuned on all terrains
From the Nürburgring to the Arctic Circle, passing through the desert. BMW is completing the testing and validation phase of the new generation of the BMW X5, which could see the light of day in September at the Paris Motor Show.
The fourth generation of the BMW X5 is just around the corner. Its public debut is expected to take place at the Paris Motor Show, which will be held next September. Meanwhile, BMW is in the final phase of validation and testing with pre-production prototypes, with cars camouflaged.
And judging by what we can see, BMW does not want the new X5 to lose an ounce of its off-road qualities. What’s more, we would say that the German brand is aiming for its new BMW X5 to be the true benchmark both on and off the asphalt.

To this end, in addition to the usual tests in different climate zones spread across the globe, BMW is testing the X5 on all kinds of terrain. This involves fine-tuning the chassis on the demanding Nürburgring circuit. But also all kinds of tests on the ice of the Arctic Circle or the sand of the desert. The BMW X5 will debut a new suspension system and all-wheel drive, as well as active integral steering (for the first time in a BMW from the “X” family), which will allow the SUV to transform “at the touch of a button”, adapting to any surface.

Otherwise, the video footage and photographs of the camouflaged cars preview a new BMW X5 that maintains its proportions and an image that will gain in power thanks to the new grille and aggressive front air intakes. The new platform, which will also be used by the BMW X7, will allow a weight saving that comfortably exceeds 200 kg in some versions. The BMW X5 2019 will also be the first to feature the new infotainment system from BMW. For the engines, the brand’s current 4- and 6-cylinder units are expected, as well as the corresponding plug-in hybrid version.
