The new generation of the BMW Serie 7 begins to take shape

Serie 7 02

BMW has the new generation of its flagship ready, the Serie 7, which has been completely redesigned to become the benchmark of its segment.

We will not see the final look of the BMW for another week, but the Germans have already released a video that makes our mouths water.

The BMW Serie 7 has always been synonymous with technology, efficiency and sportiness. With this new generation, that mix has been boosted like never before, resulting in a true long-distance cruiser whose technology will reach levels never before seen from the brand. Its main rival, the Mercedes-Benz S-Class, is enjoying unprecedented success in its latest generation, so the BMW has a very tough task ahead.

The design of the new Serie 7 will be sharper and sportier than ever, featuring a front end with lines similar to those of the new Serie 3 and Serie 4, with headlights that merge into the kidney grille, creating a very interesting sense of width and robustness. The rear will also see its lines refined to eliminate as much “heaviness” as possible from previous generations.

Inside, the materials used are expected to improve noticeably in quality, with leather and premium materials wherever we look—and touch. Of course, technological advances will also have their place in the cabin, where the Serie 7 will debut features such as a fully digital instrument cluster or a gesture control system for operating the phone, the multimedia system or the climate control.

Technically, we are talking about the most advanced BMW to date. Its chassis will feature a monocoque made of carbon fibre reinforced plastic (CFRP), which BMW calls “Carbon Core”. With this new construction, the Serie 7 will be lighter and stiffer than ever. It will debut both diesel and petrol engines, as well as plug-in hybrid solutions that promise first-class performance with first-class efficiency.

In addition, other elements are being added, such as laser lighting (it will be the first saloon to feature this system) or the autonomous parking system, which allows the car to park by itself, without the driver even needing to be inside the vehicle.
