The new generation of the Dacia Sandero will arrive in 2027, including an electric version

The Romanian manufacturer wants to extend the good results it is achieving with this five-seat compact over time, and to that end it is already working on a new generation of this model that will arrive in 2027, including an electric version.

2024 was once again a very good year for Dacia, with global sales reaching 676,340 vehicles. An extraordinary achievement for the Romanian company controlled by Renault, which would not have been possible without its most successful model: the Dacia Sandero. This five-door compact had the honour of becoming the best-selling vehicle in Europe last year, surpassing none other than the Tesla Model Y, with almost 310,000 units delivered.

But that’s not all: in Spain the Dacia Sandero was once again the sales leader in 2024, with just over 28,000 units sold, maintaining the crown that it had already won the previous year.

With the aim of maintaining these good results in the long term, Dacia is already working on a new generation of this model which, as we have just learned, will finally feature a fully electric version. The Chief Executive of the Romanian company, Denis Le Vot, has himself confirmed the news, adding that Dacia will have at least two new electric models before the end of the decade, one of which will be the electric Sandero.

What can we expect from the new Sandero?

For the time being, very little is known about this new project, but it seems quite likely that the new electric Sandero will be produced at one of the plants that Renault has in Europe. It is also speculated that this model could use the Renault AmpR Small platform, also known as CMF-B EV, with battery options of 40 kWh and 52 kWh, and motors producing between 70 and 115 kW.

With the launch of the electric Sandero, Dacia aims to get ahead of other alternatives yet to come from Chinese manufacturers and also some European ones, such as Volkswagen. As we have already mentioned, another electric model from the Romanian brand is expected in the coming years. This new model will probably be a crossover, n and the possibility that it could be an electric version of the Duster is not ruled out, although this is something that has not yet been confirmed.

This second electric model will be officially presented immediately after the launch of the electric Sandero, and the possibility that Dacia presents a first prototype close to the final production version in 2026 is not ruled out, one year before the electric Sandero reaches the market in 2027.
