This is the Suzuki Across, a new plug-in hybrid SUV born from the collaboration with Toyota
Born from the collaboration with Toyota, the new Suzuki Across arrives: a RAV4 with cosmetic changes and plug-in hybrid power under its bonnet

The latest collaboration agreement between Suzuki and Toyota announced last year allowed Toyota to ride on Suzuki’s popularity in emerging markets to introduce its models, while Suzuki would make use of Toyota’s renowned hybrid technology for its own models. The result of this partnership is the Suzuki Across, a new SUV for the Hamamatsu brand that is nothing more than a RAV4 in disguise.
Collaborations of this kind are very common in the automotive industry, but although we are looking at the same platform as the Toyota RAV4 in Suzuki, they have sought to give it their own personal and distinctive touch. These changes focus on the front end, which on the Suzuki Across will stand out thanks to a large-sized grille flanked on both sides by fake air intakes that house the fog lights, which are also larger than those on the RAV4. Because these elements are bigger, there is a smaller gap between the bottom of the grille and the chrome front lower protections.

On either side of the grille sit the sharp LED headlights, which use a bi-LED projector and an LED DRL. Moving towards the sides, you will see new 19-inch wheels in glossy black with a polished face, while at the rear the styling is similar to the RAV4. The new Suzuki Across will be available in the following body colours: Pearl Crystal White, Metallic Silver, Mica Black, Mica Red, Metallic Grey and Dark Mica Blue.
The interior of the Suzuki Across will be exactly the same as that of the RAV4; in fact, the only noticeable change will be the Suzuki logo on the centre of the steering wheel. This means the same quality of finishes, as well as the infotainment system with a 9-inch touchscreen, which offers connectivity via Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and MirrorLink. On top of this comes standard equipment including the latest driver assistance and safety systems, such as Pre-Collision System, Lane Keeping Assist, Road Sign Recognition, Dynamic Cruise Control, Blind Spot Monitor, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, e-Call emergency call and Brake Hold system.

Mechanically, the new Suzuki Across uses a hybrid system made up of a 182 CV, 270 Nm electric motor combined with a 2,500 cc A25A-FXS Dynamic Force petrol engine producing 185 CV, which sends its power to the front axle, resulting in a combined system output of 306 CV. On the rear axle, a separate 54 CV electric motor works to deliver the E-Four 4×4 traction, with torque split between the front and rear axles varying from 100/00 to 20/80. On top of all this, the battery that stores the electrical energy is housed under the floor and has a capacity of 18.1 kWh.
With these figures, the first specifications released for the Suzuki Across show a top speed of 180 km/h, together with a fully electric range of 75 km and CO2 emissions of 22 g/km under the WLTP test cycle. The new Suzuki Across can already be ordered at a price of 53,700 euros including promotion, while the first units will begin deliveries in October.
