The new generation of the pick-up Nissan NP300 is ready to be launched from the Nissan plant in Barcelona. This new version of the popular van was designed in Europe with this market in mind by the Nissan Technical Centre (NTCE) in Barcelona. The Barcelona team has worked to adapt the soundproofing, vibration reduction, steering, suspension and brakes to the taste of European drivers.

The Barcelona plant was chosen to manufacture this European version of the Nissan NP300, with an investment of 80 million euros, which was necessary to adapt the assembly line for the production of this model. In addition, some components, such as the steering bushes and the brake discs and drums, are being manufactured at the brand’s plant in Cantabria.

This new Nissan NP300 is capable of off-road driving, thanks to the application of everything the brand has learned over 80 years of manufacturing vehicles like this one, combining the experience gained with cars such as the Qashqai, the Juke and X-Trail.

To achieve this functionality, Nissan has equipped the NP300 with a 2.3-litre dCi engine, which has been improved to the point that its efficiency has been increased by 24%. It also includes the option of twin turbo, which is available for the first time on this model. The interior design has been improved to increase the comfort of the cabin occupants, and a new lightweight multi-link suspension system also improves driving.

The equipment of the Nissan NP300 also includes several driver assistance systems, such as the surround view monitor and the front collision avoidance system. This is the first Nissan model to leave the Zona Franca factory in Barcelona with a five-year or 160,000-kilometre warranty. In addition, the pick-up models Mercedes and Renault will soon enter production at this plant, sharing the same structure as this model, which will allow the Barcelona plant to increase its output and reach its target of 200,000 vehicles produced per year.
