The new Porsche Panamera undergoes its final tests in Barcelona
Range increases, charging times are shortened and a fourth hybrid version arrives: all these novelties are brought by the renewed Porsche Panamera, which is undergoing its final tests

In the heart of Barcelona, the iconic Porsche Panamera is writing its next chapter of innovation. After an extensive test programme across four continents, this high-end vehicle is about to change the game in terms of performance, efficiency and technology. With a focus on sustainability, comfort and power, the new Porsche Panamera 2023 promises to raise the standard in its class even further.
Testing in pursuit of excellence
The Porsche engineering team has carried out exhaustive tests under a variety of extreme conditions to ensure the new Panamera meets expectations worldwide. From high altitudes in the United States to freezing temperatures in Scandinavia and demanding roads in South Africa, the Panamera has overcome every obstacle. Marcel Hönemann, Development Director at Porsche, stressed that these tests are essential to meet customer expectations in terms of performance, comfort and acoustics.

Four E-Hybrid variants
One of the main novelties of the new Panamera is its E-Hybrid range. Thomas Friemuth, Director of the Panamera product line, enthusiastically announced the addition of a fourth plug-in hybrid version, in response to growing global demand for hybrid vehicles. This new generation features an electric motor fully integrated into the dual-clutch gearbox, delivering exceptional acceleration and recovery while reducing the vehicle’s weight. In addition, the high-voltage battery now has a significantly larger capacity of 25.9 kWh, backed by an 11 kW onboard charger that shortens charging times.
“During our tests, we have driven up to 70% more in pure electric mode than with its predecessor,” Friemuth points out, underlining Porsche’s focus on improving driving dynamics, electric range and charging speed.

Outstanding efficiency and performance
In addition to electrification, the combustion engines and air suspension of the new Panamera have been revised to offer improved efficiency and performance, in line with future emissions regulations. Arno Bögl, Engine Project Manager for the Panamera product line, describes the hybridisation of the Panamera as “absolutely perfect and harmonious“. The advances in electrification translate into smoother, more reliable driving.
The new Panamera also introduces a high-tech chassis with active damping control, offering a wide range of additional functions. Thomas Friemuth highlights the high standard they have reached, proven over every kilometre covered during testing. Whether driving over cobblestones at the port of Barcelona or along winding city roads, the Panamera shows unmatched versatility.

The active chassis comes as standard with new double-chamber, two-valve dampers that can adjust compression and rebound stages independently. This gives drivers a wide range of options between a comfortable setting and a sporty one, starting from the base version.
Get to know it up close
With the latest tests under way, the new Porsche Panamera is ready for its world premiere at the Porsche Icons festival in Dubai, on 24 November 2023. Porsche enthusiasts will have the chance to admire this engineering marvel up close on 25 and 26 November. The new Panamera 2023 is a bold statement of Porsche’s vision for the future of mobility: more sustainability, more efficiency and more power, all combined in a luxury saloon.
