Skoda Superb Sedans Geneva Motor Show
The new Škoda Superb reveals its rear end in another sketch

The first sketches of the new Škoda Superb that the Czech forum Autoforum revealed just over a week ago gave us a look at its front and the profile of both bodies. The brand continues today with the publication of its official drawings, with a new view of the vehicle’s three-quarter rear that allows us to form a better idea of the model’s evolution.
It once again shows the same stylistic pattern defined by the VisionC prototype that the Czech manufacturer exhibited at the last Geneva Motor Show. Compared with that design exercise, the production Superb will opt for a rear end with less sharp edges and more conventional lines, which will give it a little more sobriety.
The revisions the model has undergone since the VisionC do not detract much from the overall appeal.
The changes that can be seen begin with rear overhangs that are slightly shorter than those of the VisionC, as well as taillights that replace the prototype’s characteristic arrow or boomerang shape with others that are less elongated and bulkier but still with pointed tips. Although they perhaps recall those of other cars, they will suit the Superb better than those of the current generation.
We will see the final result at 1:1 scale at the Geneva Motor Show in March.
The silhouette of the boot lid and the rear bumper have changed. The latter appears taller and more uniform than on the VisionC, while the former has a lower edge that is a little wider, which will translate into greater convenience when loading objects into the boot.
What is most curious, and it is not clear whether it will end up this way on the real vehicle, is the apparently off-centre position of the Škoda badge and the number plate. Comparing the sketch with the camouflaged units whose photographs the manufacturer released, it seems to be a stylistic liberty taken when making the drawings, so this asymmetry will not be reflected in the road version.
