The new virtual technology of Audi will debut on the A8

Not long ago we had the chance to see the Audi E-tron Quattro Concept, a car that previewed some of the items we will see on the German brand’s future models. Among these innovations, the new virtual instrument cluster stood out strongly, a control system that began to replace the knobs and buttons of most onboard systems with several touchscreens. A simpler way to control everything and receive information more precisely.
This virtual instrument cluster features a main 14.1-inch display that works as the instrument panel. Two smaller screens join it, located in the centre of the dashboard. The upper screen is dedicated to the information and entertainment systems, including the navigation. The lower one handles text input and the air conditioning controls.

A simple and natural way to control the car
One of the advantages of these screens over other systems on the market is that when any of the elements controlled by these screens is activated, the user is aware that it has been activated, without needing to press the corresponding icon several times to make sure.
This virtual instrument cluster will be available in several models from the brand with the four rings, but the first to use it will be the top-of-the-range ones. Among them, the A8, which will be the first to use it from next year, 2017. This luxury model will benefit from the advantages the virtual system offers, so that the driver is fully integrated into the control and operation of the car, having within easy and natural reach all the information related to driving.
