The Nürburgring circuit is one of the toughest in the world, which is why many manufacturers choose it to put their cars to the test. On the track, aptly named Green Hell, the NIO EP9 has been seen once again, having been tested on the demanding German circuit. And successfully so, because it not only surpassed its previous record, but also became the fastest electric vehicle to have ever run on the track.

Last year it already ran at Nürburgring, although it recorded a time that did not seem very satisfactory to the officials of the Chinese brand, so they prepared this lap, in which they managed to considerably reduce the time. From 7 minutes and 5.12 seconds they went down to 6 minutes 45.9 seconds, something that caused satisfaction in the company’s offices.

In fact, it is a brand that has managed to beat the Lamborghini Huracan Performante, which holds a time of 6 minutes and 52.01 seconds. This makes it the fastest electric car in the world, thanks to its 777-volt electric traction system. This delivers a power output of 1 megawatt, equivalent to 1,341 CV, and a maximum torque of 1,480 Nm. This allows it to nearly reach 320 km/h and accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.7 seconds.

One way of measuring speed in the United States is the quarter mile, which equals 402.33 metres. This model can complete it in just 10.1 seconds, crossing the finish line at a speed of 250 km/h. This is possible thanks to its four motors, each mounted on one of the supercar’s wheels. The energy comes from two lithium batteries cooled by water. These can be recharged in 45 minutes or swapped out in just eight minutes if maximum power is needed immediately. The range is approximately 425 km, so this is a car that is sure to make headlines.
