The Nissan Leaf Nismo RC has been spotted in Valencia and it looks spectacular

The Circuito Ricardo Tormo was the stage chosen to present the Nissan Leaf Nismo RC in Europe, and this model has been seen running around the Ricardo Tormo

The Nissan Leaf Nismo RC was designed to be a show car featuring all the technology Nissan has in electric mobility. A test bed to put on a track everything the company has learned in recent years and everything it still has to learn. It has been seen before, but now it has arrived in Europe and has chosen Valencia as the first place on the continent to showcase its capabilities.

Specifically, the Ricardo Tormo circuit was the chosen venue to demonstrate that this car, powered by a dual electric motor setup and all-wheel drive, can deliver plenty of thrills on the track. This powertrain delivers power equivalent to 322 CV and a maximum torque of 640 Nm. These figures allow it to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.4 seconds.

This race-inspired car is built on a carbon fibre chassis that keeps its weight at 1,220 kg, allowing it to move with real flair on track. The design of the Nissan Leaf Nismo RC allows torque to be sent to the tyres with more grip to boost performance through corners. Placing a motor on each axle allows all that power to be managed more intelligently and efficiently.

Nissan wanted to show that electric mobility and motorsport are not incompatible, and this car has made it clear that it is not something to take lightly. During the test at the Valencian circuit, it was possible to see how it works and how it behaves on track. It is not the first car bearing the Leaf badge to be used for this, as not long ago it presented a version based on the Leaf that can be found on the market. That one used a similar setup, with two motors and all-wheel drive.

In this case it managed to deliver 304 CV and a maximum torque of 680 Nm. The technology fitted to that test version will eventually reach production to shine on the road. A new version of the model, called the Nissan Leaf E+, has a range of 363 kilometres thanks to its new 62 kWh battery, compared with the 40 kWh battery of the base model. The power of this production model is equivalent to 217 CV, letting drivers enjoy the city car more and better.
