The Opel Ampera E, a range of 150 km with just 30 minutes of charging
The Opel Ampera E offers improvements in range, with the ability to travel 500 kilometres on a single charge, although it can also use a 30-minute fast charge that allows it to travel 150 km on that single charge

Electric cars are receiving special treatment from manufacturers. Within a few months we will have on the market several models that far surpass those sold just a few years ago. The Opel wants to carve out a place in a market dominated by the Nissan Leaf or the Renault Zoe and presents a version of the Ampera E that aims to win in this novel field, which will soon bring more news.
The main selling point of this model is the range of this small city car. According to what we are told, its 60 kWh batteries allow a range of 500 km, so average users, who usually drive around 60 km a day, will be able to go several days without having to charge the car overnight. That is the distance that the technicians of the German brand calculate is driven per day on average, so its batteries offer this type of user the capacity to move around without problems in their day-to-day life.

With fast charging, the new Opel Ampera E can travel a maximum of 150 km. Another selling point is the possibility of fast charging, which will allow 150 kilometres to be covered after keeping the car connected to the charging station for just 30 minutes. These figures are obtained with a 50 kW direct current fast charger. Obviously, these figures cannot be achieved with a standard charger, although such installations are expected to become quite common across European territory within a few years.
With the standard plug included with the car, it can be charged at a home alternating current socket, which is usually 4.6 kW, but also at charging stations that are currently being gradually deployed across the continent, with an operating range from 3.6 kW to 7.2 kW. There is another possibility, which is to use a standard 2.3 kW household socket, so each user can choose the most suitable way to charge the battery for them.
The new Opel Ampera E offers a power output of 150 kW, equivalent to around 204 CV. The acceleration time from 0 to 50 km/h is 3.2 seconds, which is very suitable for city driving. It has a very suitable space for five people and a generous boot. Looking at the technological equipment, we find remarkable connectivity that includes the Opel OnStar system and various systems for the smartphone.
The Opel Ampera E will reach the European market from next spring, so we will have to wait a little longer to find this fully electric city car on our roads.
