The Opel Astra adds the Design & Tech trim to its range, with extensive standard equipment
The Opel Astra welcomes its new Design & Tech trim, which brings new aesthetic details and an interesting standard tech package

Although it was presented at the 2019 Frankfurt Motor Show, the extensive restyle that Opel applied to the Astra did not reach us until the start of 2020. By the way, this is a model we had the chance to test for you last summer. Even though it has been on the market for more than a year, the Astra keeps introducing new features, like the one we show you below: the new Design & Tech trim.
With this new Design & Tech trim, Opel aims to give the Astra a more refined yet sporty image, while also complementing it with quite an interesting standard equipment list. On the outside, the Astra receives several body elements painted in black, such as the mirror housings, the window surrounds and the option of a black roof, along with 16-inch alloy wheels in Technical Grey or the 17-inch wheels in black.
Inside, the Opel Astra Design & Tech offers more comfort for both driver and passenger, who will benefit from multi-adjustable seats with a black mixed fabric/Alcantara-style upholstery. In addition, continuing the exterior styling, its trim pieces are finished in piano black, and the doors feature ambient lighting to enhance this look at night.
As standard equipment, we find a wide range of technological features, among which we can highlight:
- LED headlights
- High-beam assist and tunnel detection
- Rain sensor
- Auto-dimming rear-view mirror
- Front collision warning with automatic emergency braking
- Lane-keeping assist
- Dual-zone automatic climate control
- Sliding centre armrest with cup holders
- Electric parking brake
- 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity

Beyond all of the above and the rest of its equipment, the Astra Design & Tech can be upgraded further with the Parking Tech package for an additional 200 euros, which adds the advanced parking assistant, rear-view camera and electrically folding mirrors. You can also upgrade the infotainment system with the Multimedia Navi package, which for 650 euros adds integrated high-definition navigation along with expanded connectivity via USB, Bluetooth and MP3.
Mechanically, the Opel Astra Design & Tech can be paired with the 1.5-litre diesel engine in 105 and 122 CV outputs, while if you prefer petrol you can opt for the 1.2-litre engine available in 110 and 130 CV versions.
The new Opel Astra Design & Tech is now available in Spain, with prices starting from 23,300 euros including VAT.
