The petrol and EV versions of the OMODA 5 will be produced in Spain, specifically in Barcelona

Chery Group, the group that assembles brands such as Chery, OMODA or Jaecoo, is betting on Spain as its launch platform and manufacturing base for the innovative OMODA 5, presenting both its combustion version and its revolutionary electric variant, a strategic move with which Chery Group seeks to consolidate its presence in Europe.

OMODA, the brand that recently landed in Spain under the umbrella of Chery, has announced its firm commitment by selecting the Barcelona Free Trade Zone as the production hub for this cutting-edge SUV, both in its petrol version, OMODA 5, and in its fully electric alternative, the OMODA E5, which will also be assembled at the former Nissan plant.

The agreement forms part of OMODA’s expansion strategy in Spanish territory. The signing ceremony was attended by prominent leaders of Chery International, together with institutional backing from the Prime Minister of Spain, Pedro Sánchez, and the President of the Generalitat of Catalonia, Pere Aragonès.

OMODA’s commitment to Spain is materialising through the creation of a logistics infrastructure, and it has inaugurated distribution logistics offices at the facilities of Noatum Automotive, in the Barcelona Autoterminal, backed by an official sales and service network that already covers more than 50 locations across the country, with 45 outlets set to rise to 80 in a first phase. Since its official launch in February this year, the brand has consolidated its presence with a solid structure and a strategy focused on product excellence and customer satisfaction.

Everything ready for after-sales service

OMODA MOTORS SPAIN, the local company that brings together the OMODA and JAECOO brands, has set up its base of operations in Madrid, from where it efficiently manages its activities. The Port of Barcelona serves as the gateway for logistics, while a strategically located warehouse in Azuqueca de Henares guarantees a fast and effective supply of parts and spare parts for customers throughout Spain.

The long-awaited assembly of the first vehicles is scheduled to begin before the last quarter of 2024, marking the start of a new era for the Spanish automotive industry.

OMODA 5 and E5

The OMODA 5 stands out as the compact SUV par excellence, attracting attention and earning praise in every market it has entered. Equipped with a 1.6-litre turbo petrol engine, it delivers an impressive output of 185 CV and 290 Nm of torque, combined with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. Its three driving modes offer a personalised experience for every driver, while its extensive standard equipment, from the entry level up to the premium range, ensures comfort and safety on every journey.

In Spain, the OMODA 5 is offered with a starting price of 27,900 euros. However, thanks to the financing offers available, customers can access this SUV from just 22,900 euros, with a comfortable monthly instalment of 149 euros, a fairly competitive price, if not almost unbeatable.

The fully electric version of the OMODA promises an even more exciting driving experience. With a 204 CV motor and a high-capacity battery, it offers a homologated range of 430 km under the WLTP cycle. This revolutionary model will be available on the Spanish market from the second four-month period of 2024, offering a sustainable and advanced alternative for environmentally conscious drivers. Although the price has not yet been revealed, it is expected to be competitive, with an estimated value below 40,000 euros.
