The Porsche Panamera will have a hybrid version

Porsche Panamera Híbrido

Porsche AG has officially confirmed it and has assured that its powertrain will be similar to that of the Cayenne Hybrid. In this way, the Panamera will become the first four-door sports car to incorporate hybrid technology.

As you can see in the image above, the batteries will be located in the boot (presumably underneath it, as usual) and will be connected to a hybrid module located between the engine and the transmission, consisting of an additional clutch and an electric motor. As with any other hybrid, depending on the conditions, one or the other or both power units will operate to guarantee the perfect balance between performance and savings at all times. This system will also allow several driving modes, such as one fully electric and another sporty; even so, Porsche claims that its consumption will stay at 9 litres per 100 km, quite a good figure given the power it will have, its dimensions and its weight.

The petrol version of this model will arrive next year, but the arrival of this hybrid version is an unknown, though at the very earliest… 2010 would be the year. Given the direction Porsche is taking, when will we see a hybrid 911? I think we will never see one.
