Toyota Concepts Salón de Tokio
The prototype of the Toyota TJ Cruiser combines an off-roader with an MPV
Toyota has revealed the design of its new TJ Cruiser concept, a large hybrid model that will be presented at the Tokyo Motor Show.

A few days ago, Toyota announced the launch of what will be the final edition of the FJ Cruiser, a model that was only sold in Japan. Now the Japanese brand has designed a peculiar concept with similar features called the TJ Cruiser, which blends traits of an SUV and an MPV.
Although the brand has already released some images, the Toyota TJ Cruiser will be officially presented at the upcoming Tokyo Motor Show, which will take place between October 25 and November 5.

The prototype has been developed on the TNGA platform (Toyota New Global Architecture), measuring 4.3 metres in length, 1.75 in width and 1.62 in height. With four folding seats and a flat loading surface, the Toyota TJ Cruiser Concept can carry objects up to 3 metres long. In addition, the large rear opening and the sliding doors allow for easy loading and unloading.
According to Toyota, the bumpers, bonnet and roof have been manufactured from materials that feature a coating that prevents them from deteriorating due to scratches, minor impacts or dirt.

As for its mechanics, the concept of this innovative fusion of SUV and MPV features a hybrid propulsion system that equips a 2.0 petrol engine. The TJ Cruiser also has a front-wheel or all-wheel drive system. For now, Toyota has not revealed specific details about power, range or consumption.
The name of the Toyota TJ comes from the English words Toolbox and Joy since, according to the brand, this model offers multiple solutions and is designed for both work and leisure.

Toyota will present this concept at the upcoming Tokyo Show alongside other production vehicles such as the highly anticipated Toyota Century.
