The Range Rover Sport shows off prototypes of the electric model at Goodwood

The Range Rover Sport electric has undergone several tests to showcase its off-road capabilities at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.

The Range Rover Sport is set to receive a mid-life update soon, which will incorporate a new electric propulsion system. A prototype of this variant was seen at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, where it made a splash with a rather original presentation.

This official unveiling aimed to demonstrate that the electric propulsion system is not at odds with the off-road capabilities that have been present in the model throughout its history. The electric version will arrive by the end of the year and will redefine high-performance SUVs.

To showcase this model to visitors at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, the Range Rover Sport electric underwent several tests designed to demonstrate the vehicle’s capabilities. One of these demonstrations required the fuselage of an aircraft, from which the vehicle emerged. It was a set piece, but it served its purpose: attracting attention.

It was not the only test the Range Rover Sport was put through. They also had the electric SUV climb a very steep staircase and then descend it from the opposite side. In addition, the prototype demonstrated its capabilities on the iconic track at the Goodwood circuit.

Despite these demonstrations, Jaguar Land Rover has not announced the features this electric model will offer, although it is expected to be something similar to what the electric Range Rover offers. The latter delivers a power output of 405 kW, equivalent to 542 CV, although we will not know anything about this before the second half of 2026.

The bodywork worn by this electric prototype is the same as that used by the current variant, launched in 2022. The prototype seen at the Nürburgring under camouflage has a different bumper, with a new design, revised LED lights and other minor styling changes, which will be confirmed later. We have no images of the interior, but changes that improve comfort are expected.
