The Renault 5 is making its return as an electric model!

Renault presents its strategic plan for the coming years using a very special “hook”: the Renault 5 concept, naturally, with 100% electric propulsion.

Renault 5 Concept 1

A monumental display of Renault to present the Group’s strategic plan, called Renaulution, which in the case of Renault has a very clear reference point when it comes to product: the all-new Renault 5 Prototype.

The Renault 5 prototype could make it into series production

And, to be honest, the car has turned out quite well, judging by the images. It represents the rebirth of a true cult car, returning more modern than ever to become one of the most desirable city cars. The brand’s designers have hit the mark, with a modern, youthful, attractive image…

It is undoubtedly recognisable as an R5, thanks to elements such as the proportions, the side grille, the wheels, the rear badge… There are plenty of thoroughly modernised details, such as the air intake on the bonnet, which in this case hides the flap for charging. Because, as could not be otherwise, the Renault 5 prototype is a 100% electric vehicle.

Renault’s future plans: 14 new cars by 2025, 7 of them electric

Will we see it in the future as a production car? It certainly looks like it, although no confirmed information has been given on this. Even before the concept was presented, there was a lot of talk and rumour about the possibility of seeing the resurrection of the Renault 5 based on the Clio.

What Renault has revealed are its plans to launch 14 new vehicles by 2025, 7 of which will be fully electric, 7 will belong to the C and D segments and, those that are not electric, will have hybrid versions. Will the Renault 5 concept be among these first 7 models in Renault’s new electric offensive? We would bet that it will. Especially if the yardstick for deciding is the acceptance the car receives from the public.

Other plans Renault has revealed in its new strategic plan include leading the energy transition thanks to its electrified solutions based on its new CMF-EV and CMF-B EV electric platforms, and its agreements to develop hydrogen mobility. There is also its commitment to software, with a new open ecosystem for programmes, big data, microelectronics and cybersecurity.
