The Renault Arkana is already a reality in our country, but does it have rivals?
Renault has revolutionised the segment with the Renault Arkana, a model that is positioned in no man’s land, but only for a short time, as its rivals will soon arrive.
Renault has surprised the world with the arrival in Europe of the Renault Arkana, a coupé-style SUV that will enjoy strong success. This will be possible thanks to its bodywork and its good value for money, which make it one of the most tempting options in the segment. And here is the point that has prompted this article we are dealing with today: although other coupé SUVs already exist on the market, no mainstream brand has so far dared to venture into it, leaving the Renault Arkana very likely in no man’s land.
And indeed, one of the pioneering brands of this segment was BMW with the X6, a large model that combined luxury, exclusivity and a sporty line. Soon Mercedes-Benz with the GLE and Audi with the Q8 joined this trend, models that repeated the concept in a more advanced way.
With this premise, the Renault Arkana replicates the idea but adapts it to a much more modest shape, though one that is fundamental to its success. In addition, the French SUV boasts segment C dimensions on the CMB-F platform, the same one the diamond brand uses for the Clio and Captur, vehicles with which the Arkana shares many mechanical elements.

This situation means the Renault coupé SUV is positioned even more on its own, which is positive considering that, for now, it will not have many similar models. In fact, we could only compare it with some crossover-style SUVs such as the Kia XCeed, the CUPRA Formentor or the Volkswagen T-Roc, models that, without a coupé body as applied in SUVs, do show a similar roofline drop.
Despite this clear solitude of the Renault Arkana, we must not forget the intense war being fought among all brands. The presence of this new coupé SUV will likely prompt many other brands to do the same to rival it and prevent it from taking all the glory.

So it is only a matter of time before we see other mainstream brands turn to this formula, giving rise to hypothetical models such as the Volkswagen T-Roc Coupé, SEAT Ateca Coupé and similar. Be that as it may, we are sure that the Arkana’s presence in Europe will spark a fierce and interesting war in this segment that many brands have yet to explore.
