The Rimac C_Two beats the Bugatti Chiron in acceleration before it is even finished

Rimac is pushing ahead with the development of the upcoming Rimac C_Two, an electric hypercar that has already shown it is faster than the Bugatti Chiron.

Not long ago, electric supercars began to emerge in the automotive sector, a category that, for now, few have joined. However, one brand has wanted to take things a step further by venturing into hypercar territory, and that brand is Rimac. Indeed, the Croatian firm is in the sights of numerous manufacturers after Mate Rimac, its founder, shook up the industry with the Rimac Concept One, a model that will take a back seat to the Rimac C_Two, which beats the Bugatti Chiron in acceleration.

And so Mate Rimac has taken an abandoned airport runway to put to the test what will become his second offspring. The C_Two promises a great deal in every respect and, although the production model is not yet finished, it has already achieved an acceleration within reach of only a handful of cars in the world.

We must not overlook the ability of electric cars to deliver power almost instantly, which makes their performance outrageous. Of course, that performance is multiplied considerably in cases like the one we are dealing with today, which is none other than a hypercar with 1,940 CV of power.

Although the track conditions were not ideal and the car is between 80 and 90% of its final phase -that is, production- we came across figures that Mate Rimac describes as improvable, especially the torque. The version of the Rimac C_Two that will hit the road will be even faster than the one the Croatian firm shows us today.

Let us recall that the Bugatti Chiron was able to complete the quarter mile in just 9.4 seconds, while the Rimac C_Two has managed it in 8.94 seconds. Just in case that was not enough, the electric hypercar, whose power delivery can be configured according to the driving mode as Mate Rimac explains in the video, covers the sprint to 100 km/h from a standstill in just 2.33 seconds, which means seven hundredths faster than the French car.

As the final cherry on top, Mate and his Rimac C_Two face off against a Porsche Taycan Turbo S, one of the fastest electric saloons in the world with a 0 to 100 time of 2.8 seconds. Despite a poor start from the Croatian hypercar, it literally manages to pulverise the Taycan.
