The rival to the Tata Nano made by Renault will have a sibling
Renault is preparing an offensive with two low-cost models against the Tata Nano, in India. Of these two models, neither will reach the European continent.

Nissan-Renault is one of many that has begun to see in India a market where it can not only produce cars with more financially advantageous labour, but also a market to sell low-cost models. For some months now, the French brand has been studying how to enter the Asian market with a very low-cost model.
The comparison with the Tata Nano is inevitable, as it is one of the cheapest cars in the world, which could have a French competitor. However, the Nano may expect things to get even more complicated, because two models will be offered: first, a model priced at 5,000 euros that will reach the market at the end of 2014 and, later, a model costing 3,000 euros.
These two cars are not intended for Europe, only for India and perhaps some other nearby country. While no details have been given about these two models, they would be marketed under the Dacia brand, in line with the Regie’s long-standing intention to make Dacia its low-cost brand.
The problem is that low-cost cars do not bring in much profit for brands, but they do deliver results in terms of sales volume; the cheapest car it sells is the Sandero, priced at around 7,000 euros in Europe. In Spain, almost 9,000 Sanderos have already been sold so far this year, making it the cheapest passenger car on the market.
