The SEAT Ateca FR will be presented at the Barcelona Motor Show next month

While we wait to see whether a much more radical version of the SEAT Ateca finally arrives under the CUPRA name, we will have to make do with the somewhat toned-down FR versions, which, by the way, SEAT has already confirmed will make their official debut next May, during the Barcelona Motor Show.

The FR trim will join the existing Reference, Style and Xcellence trims, with the FR offering the most technological equipment of the range and a sportier look. Aesthetically, the differences are noticeable: at the front, if you look closely, the bumper is painted in the body colour, and the grille in gloss black is specific to it. The fog lights for the FR trim use LED technology and also feature their own design.

On the side of the SEAT Ateca FR there are also some differences, starting with the wheel arches in the body colour, followed by the aluminium sill mouldings, and ending with the 18-inch Performance alloy wheels. At the rear, the bumper, also of exclusive design, is painted in the body colour, as is the upper rear spoiler, to which two more have been added on the sides of the rear window in black, by the way.

Once we open the doors, the aluminium sill plates with the FR logo remind us which version we are in, a logo we also find on the leather-wrapped steering wheel, with red stitching and gloss black inserts. This black finish is also present on the roof and on the interior door mouldings. For the sports seats, the chosen upholstery is Alcantara suede, although there is the option of leather, and the door panels feature upholstery exclusive to the FR.

In terms of equipment, nothing is missing, either in safety or entertainment systems. We get the standard equipment of the Xcellence version, to which we must add the Full Link system, the SEAT Navy System with an 8-inch touchscreen, two USB ports and an AUX-in, two SD card slots, playback of MP3 and WMA formats, 8 speakers and voice recognition. In the area of auxiliary and safety systems there is a Top View Camera with 360º camera, adaptive cruise control, blind spot detection and rear traffic alert.

The engines available for the SEAT Ateca FR will be petrol and diesel, with power outputs ranging from 150 CV to 190 CV. All of its engines can be chosen with a manual or DSG gearbox, as well as four-wheel drive 4Drive. It is worth noting that for the 4Drive versions, the new adaptive chassis control will be available as an option, allowing for a more aggressive driving style.

Finally, we would like to inform you that, at the time SEAT sent us the press release for the Ateca FR, the arrival of the 2.0 TSI engine with 190 CV, paired with a DSG gearbox of 7 speeds and 4Drive all-wheel drive for the Ateca range, was also announced. This engine is already available when placing your order.
