The SEAT Ibiza Cupra 2013 in spy photos

Spy photographers have caught the first test mule of the new SEAT Ibiza Cupra 2013 with no camouflage at all, driving around Spain.

The last thing I expected when I got home today were the first spy images, without camouflage, of the most sporty and radical version of SEAT’s city car, the Ibiza Cupra 2013. The photographs were taken in Spain alongside a León III unit.

Based on its close relative, the Volkswagen Polo GTI, SEAT’s racing division has wanted to give this first restyling of the Cupra since its launch a different touch. The production model has a more aggressive front skirt, new LED-type headlights and wheels similar to the previous ones. There is also a sporty rear bumper with an integrated diffuser and an exhaust system mounted in the centre.

Its exterior lines are very similar to the prototype the Spanish brand showed a few months ago. We have no information about the interior, but the changes are likely to be minimal.

Under the bonnet, nothing is expected to change: it will use a 1.4-litre petrol engine delivering 180 CV to the front wheels thanks to a turbocharger. It will come with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox combined with an electronic XDS differential.
