The SEAT Tarraco e-Hybrid, the plug-in hybrid variant, is now priced in Spain

It would be foolish to deny the transition of vehicles toward sustainable mobility through electric powertrains and, above all, plug-in hybrids. This technology has been part of SEAT’s line-up for some time now. The Spanish brand has a range of models designed to reduce CO2 emissions and offer a very interesting package, especially for getting around the city. To this line-up we can now add the SEAT Tarraco, SEAT’s largest SUV, which is now also available with an e-Hybrid variant that already has a price in our country.

The Tarraco arrived as a statement of intent from SEAT, a brand that set out to revolutionise the seven-seat SUV segment with a value-for-money proposition that is hard to beat. Now, the Spanish manufacturer has taken things a step further with the SEAT Tarraco e-Hybrid.

We first came across this name with the SEAT León e-Hybrid, the model that, for the first time in its history, is offered in a PHEV version. Now it is the turn of the Tarraco, a model suited to covering long journeys that is also at home in the city, handling the various tasks of everyday life. Aware of this, SEAT has sought to improve the experience with this plug-in hybrid version.

It relies on two engines: a 1.4-litre four-cylinder combustion engine producing 150 CV and an electric motor producing 116 CV. Together they deliver a combined output of 245 CV and 400 Nm of torque, complemented by a 13 kWh lithium-ion battery capable of providing 50 km of range in 100% electric mode according to the WLTP cycle.

In addition, SEAT claims a total range of 730 km and fuel consumption of between 1.6 and 2 litres per 100 km, assuming regular use of the battery. To achieve this, a charging time of three and a half hours is required when using a 3.6 kW wallbox, or just under five hours if a domestic plug is used.

It should be noted, however, that the SEAT Tarraco e-Hybrid loses the ability to seat seven occupants due to the position of the batteries. All things considered, buyers in Spain will need to budget 42,640 euros, a figure associated with the Xcellence trim level, which will vary depending on the equipment chosen.
