The second edition of the Rolls-Royce Boat Tail debuts
The second of the three units to be built on the Boat Tail bodywork has just made its debut at the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este

Almost a year ago, Rolls-Royce unveiled the first instalment of its Boat Tail, a creation costing no less than €23 million in which luxury and exclusivity had been taken to a new level to create a completely unique experience.
Now, taking advantage of the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este 2022, the British brand has presented the second of the three chapters to be created, keeping the essence of the first instalment while introducing many distinctive details that make it a one-of-a-kind piece.
Commissioned by a patron who owns a business founded by his father and dedicated to the pearl industry, the new Boat Tail has been created as a tribute to that father and to the family heritage of this fortunate owner, which, according to Alex Innes, the brand’s head of coachwork design, has been “an extraordinary privilege and a responsibility we take very seriously”.

Down to the finest detail
The new Boat Tail has been hand-built, with body panels formed from aluminium sheets inspired by 20th-century racing yachts, combined with a meticulous study of materials, starting with four mother-of-pearl shells personally selected by the client.
The base colour of this creation is a blend of oyster and soft pink, incorporating white and bronze mica flakes that make the car look different in the sunlight. The bonnet has been painted in cognac with aluminium micas in bronze and gold, topped with a matt clear coat to add a greater sense of depth.

Jewellery on wheels
On its rear boot lid, as on the first edition, we find butterfly doors covered in walnut wood, featuring inlays in rose gold with a satin brushed finish, matched by the rose-gold thread in the interior.
Turning to the cabin, we find seats upholstered in cognac and oyster leather, walnut trim and rose-gold details on the centre console, dashboard and door panels, and a mother-of-pearl clock in the centre of the dashboard.
The British firm has not yet disclosed the price of this very special vehicle, although without any doubt it will be very similar to, or even higher than, that of the first instalment.
