The Shelby GT500 also went to the Nürburgring
Some hours ago Pablo showed us a version of the Corvette ZR1 that shaved almost 7 seconds off the Green Hell, thanks to new Michelin tyres. But a test car of the FordMustang Shelby GT500 was also out on the ring, providing a thoroughly American corollary on the legendary German track.
According to reports from the observers who almost daily set up camp by the circuit, this Mustang has been spotted with an intercooler large enough to suggest the engine will have a lot more power than the previous model, which is almost certain.
The word is that the 2012 GT500 will already exceed 600 horsepower, while the current generation does not go beyond 550.
For now, the GT500 shows no other exterior changes apart from the Nürburgring track artwork (beside the traditional “cobra” emblem), a lower suspension and generously larger brakes. Aesthetically it will not change at all, given that it should keep pace with the Mustang GT, whose new generation is said to arrive in 2014, smaller and lighter than the current one.
