The Skoda Enyaq iV, the brand's first 100% electric model, already has an arrival date

Skoda is warming up its batteries with the new Enyaq iV, a model that will make its debut on 1 September, becoming the brand’s first 100% electric model

The Volkswagen Group showed its clear intentions to embrace electrification some time ago, but since the arrival of the MEB platform, the adoption of this type of powertrain across the families that make up the group has intensified . First came Volkswagen with the ID.3, then Cupra with the El-Born, and now it is the turn of Skoda, the subsidiary joining this new segment with the Enyaq iV. The Czech brand already offered the first hints of an electric vehicle with the concept car, but now everything is ready for the production version.

And Skoda has already set its sights on its main rivals by fixing a date: 1 September. That day the brand will fully unveil the new Enyaq iV, a model that also uses the modular MEB platform, taking advantage of its benefits to adopt a different shape from that of its siblings and thus offer another option within the group.

For now, and as is customary with teasers, the information provided is rather scarce, so we feel obliged to speculate about details of Skoda’s electric model. At first glance, we notice a slimmer, more defined silhouette, features that already reveal we are looking at a vehicle larger than the ID.3 or the El-Born, for example.

The brand itself uses the SUV designation to refer to the new Enyaq, a label that allows us to position it in a category very close to that of its sibling in the range, the Kodiaq. In addition, we can see softer, finer lines, accompanied by elements typical of electric vehicles, which will set a new design language within Skoda.

But setting aside the styling, we must focus on the crux of every electric car: its range. The Czech brand has just confirmed that the Enyaq will not only offer 500 kilometres of range under the WLTP cycle, but will also be available with three battery sizes and five power levels. It will also be offered in both all-wheel-drive and rear-wheel-drive versions.

For now, Skoda leaves us wanting more, since it will not be until 1 September that we learn all the details of the new Enyaq. Either way, the company continues to expand the iV family, which will soon welcome more vehicles across different segments, always using the MEB platform that will do so much for the Volkswagen Group.
