The Subaru BRZ might not have a successor

That’s harsh. The Subaru BRZ, the small sports coupé created in collaboration with Toyota, might not have a successor beyond this current generation.
This blunt statement could become reality in the coming months, depending above all on Toyota and its relationship with BMW.
As we all already know, Toyota and BMW signed a technology collaboration agreement some time ago. In this way, BMW supplies diesel engines to Toyota, while the Japanese brand helps BMW in the field of hybrid mobility, an area in which Toyota is one of the leading brands worldwide.

However, given the good results this agreement appears to be delivering for both parties, a possible sports car has crept into the joint plans of the two companies, one that could end up bringing about the disappearance of the BRZ.
This would not affect the GT86, since both companies could also work together on a second generation of this very special model. However, the first sports car to come from BMW and Toyota would sit one step above the current GT86, offering a better image, more sporting dynamic behaviour and brighter performance.
Let us remember that the Subaru BRZ (and therefore also the GT86) is a small rear-wheel-drive sports coupé with sporty handling. It is powered by a 4-cylinder boxer engine with a displacement of 2 litres. Naturally aspirated, it produces 200 CV thanks to numerous technologies and advances such as the dual injection (direct-indirect D4-S) of Toyota origin.

The focus of this model is not purely performance-oriented; in fact, its figures are good but not brilliant (0-100 km/h in 7.6 seconds and a top speed of 226 km/h). This small Japanese car has set itself apart through its handling, which is fun at low speeds and easy to control when the pace picks up.
