The Subaru Crosstrek achieves the highest score in the safety tests
The Subaru Crosstrek has earned the Euro NCAP 2024 five-star rating, establishing itself as one of the safest SUVs on the market
The Subaru Crosstrek, in its European version, has achieved the prestigious five-star rating in the Euro NCAP 2024 safety tests, standing out as one of the safest vehicles in its class. This recognition reinforces the reputation of Subaru in automotive safety, where models such as the Forester, Outback and Solterra had already earned the same distinction.
The new Crosstrek excelled in all key areas of assessment. In child occupant protection, it achieved an impressive 90% score, earning the best results in the frontal and side impact tests for 6- and 10-year-old children. This is due in part to its innovative “child presence detection” system, which automatically deactivates the passenger airbag when a rear-facing child seat is detected. In addition, the ease of installing child restraint systems was highly rated.

As for adult occupant protection, the Crosstrek scored 83%, standing out in the side impact test, where all critical areas of the passengers’ bodies were well protected. The airbags, seats and head restraints offered effective protection against injuries such as whiplash, while the vehicle structure proved robust in rear collisions, keeping the doors and windows operable to facilitate evacuation in an emergency.
Protection for vulnerable road users
The Crosstrek also excelled in protection for vulnerable road users, such as pedestrians, cyclists and motorcyclists, scoring 85%. Its autonomous emergency braking (AEB) system, which detects both vehicles and vulnerable road users, and its lane assist system performed accurately in all the tests carried out, minimising the risk of collision.
In terms of driver assistance technology, the Crosstrek is equipped with advanced systems such as the lane keep assist (Lane Keep Assist), which corrects the trajectory in case of unintentional lane departure, and the driver monitoring system, which detects distraction and fatigue. It also features a traffic sign recognition system that automatically adjusts speed according to road limits, and the seat belt reminder is fitted as standard on all seats.

Subaru Crosstrek
Subaru has adopted a new, more sustainable powertrain. The e-BOXER four-cylinder horizontally opposed 2.0-litre direct-injection engine is combined with an electric motor, which is integrated with the transmission. The combustion engine delivers a maximum output of 136 CV and 182 Nm of torque, while the electric motor delivers 12.3 kW, equivalent to 16.7 CV, with 66 Nm of torque.
Although it is a small electric motor, it offers significant fuel savings, as it can operate jointly or independently, especially in urban driving. It can be had from €32,500.
