The Subaru Forester Hybrid will arrive in the second half of 2025

The electrification of models that have not yet gone through this industrial shift is still arriving, little by little. Subaru has just announced that it is preparing the launch of the Subaru Forester with hybrid technology and that this is closer than we expected. It is expected to reach the market from mid-year onward, so it is expected that it will be sold as a 2026 model.

The new Forester Hybrid will feature the well-known Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive system that the Forester currently uses, although it will receive several modifications so that it has lower emissions and more moderate consumption. As for the hybrid technology that will power the model, everything indicates it will be the same traditional hybrid system that equips the Subaru Crosstrek Hybrid, sold in Japan.

An efficient hybrid engine

The hybrid setup consists of a 2.5-litre four-cylinder combustion engine. This produces 158 CV, to which two electric motors are added. The first one works as a traction motor and is capable of generating 118 CV, which is sent to the wheels. The second works as a generator.

The battery has a capacity of 1.1 kWh, which allows a very limited range in electric mode. However, the purpose of that electric motor is not to operate autonomously, but to provide support to increase efficiency and reduce fuel consumption.

This hybrid system has been designed jointly with Toyota, so it is a collaboration between both companies to improve the hybrid systems of their models. This hybrid engine improves engine efficiency by 20% over the e-Boxer of Subaru, which is used in several models of the brand both in Japan and internationally.

No visual changes

The Subaru Forester Hybrid will not have major changes in its styling. It is expected to use the new logo that Subaru has presented for its hybrid models. Otherwise, no major difference is expected from the combustion-engine variant. There is no set date for the presentation of this hybrid model, although in some markets reservations for the model have already begun to be received.
