Record WRX STI 3

Subaru is delighted. Today it was revealed that the new WRX STI, in the hands of British rally driver Mark Higgins, has set a new record on the Isle of Man.

This shows that the new generation of the WRX STI works, and it works very well. This is good news for the Japanese manufacturer.

On this occasion, Mark Higgins managed to set a new lap record by completing the course in a total of 19 minutes and 26 seconds. This time beats the previous record, set with the previous generation of the Subaru in 2010, by more than 30 seconds.

This record is extremely significant on the international scene, since the Isle of Man event is one of the most important in the world. Thanks to this record, the new generation of the WRX STI gains a profile that will surely translate into popularity and sales.

Record WRX STI 2

To put the record in further perspective, it should be noted that the lap was not perfect. In the words of the driver who achieved the feat, he lost time in the second sector, overshooting the braking point at a corner. In short, this new Subaru has exceptional potential.

The average speed over the lap was around 200 km/h, a figure few vehicles can reach. We already gave our verdict on this a few days ago in the road test we carried out in the Sierra de Segovia. The new WRX STI has evolved dramatically compared with its predecessor.

Record WRX STI 5

In this new generation, the Subaru features a 2.5-litre engine producing 300 CV, which, combined with a 6-speed manual gearbox and permanent all-wheel drive, can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.2 seconds and reach a top speed of 255 km/h.
Its price in Spain has been set at 44,900 euros, a fairly good price for the level of performance this Subaru offers.
