The SUV from Smart will be unveiled at the Munich Motor Show
The Smart SUV will make its official debut at the upcoming Munich Motor Show, which will take place from 7 to 12 September.

Smart never ceases to surprise us, and now it has gone a step further by publishing an image of the roof of the new electric car from the Daimler-owned brand. The brand will use the upcoming Munich Motor Show to present the concept of its future electric SUV. To whet our appetite, a new teaser image of the model has been released. Moreover, this image represents the brand’s next design direction.
The teaser image presented is not very revealing, but it shows that the model will feature an aerodynamic body with smoothed curves. In addition, a floating glass roof can also be seen, with bronze-coloured contrasting details. So far, we know that the future concept to be presented in Munich will have an aerodynamic front end with slim light units connected by a thin line.

This is what we know about the Smart SUV
The future Smart SUV will feature digital rear-view mirrors, well-defined wheel arches and interiors that raise the bar for sportiness. The upcoming SUV will open up a new chapter for the brand, as this new concept has nothing to do with what we have known of Smart until now.
Gorden Wagener has stated that Smart “has seized the opportunity to reinvent the brand”. He also wanted to add that the new design language is intended to be “fresh, sexy and grown-up rather than cute and sporty”.

While it is true that, for the moment, the Smart SUV is technically a concept, everything points to our possibly seeing a production concept in 2023. Some sources have suggested that it could be based on Geely’s Sustainable Experience Architecture, SEA. This modular platform is very flexible and could be capable of supporting a wide variety of different models, including the Volvo entry-level model.
